hiver - jour 30

i should have worn today's outfit yesterday and yesterday's outfit today to welcome spring's arrival!however, i'm wearing my raccoon top with my army green bottoms as i mentioned last week wanting to do... and so i did! :D yay! now that that's out of the way, i also wanted to introduce my critter friends!

you've already met the racoons and the porcupine earlier... mow here's a bumble bee! :D racoons, meet porcupine. porcupine, meet bumble bee. bumble bee, meet raccoons! lol. oh darn, i should have worn my grey jacket with mr. spider! i hand knitted my neck wrap scarf! :) you can see more pics of it at stark raving made.

p.s. - i'm really happy i can start wearing all the other clothes and shoes again that i've neglected, but now that my 30 for 30 winter challenge has ended i have no idea what i'm going to wear tomorrow! oh boy... anyway, enjoy the last few days of winter!

hiver - jour 29

as promised, i put together the most colourful items in my winter picks... did i pass? ;) i felt i needed to bring in some sunshine and find the many reasons to smile about in life. the feather dress again, now doesn't seem so dark and heavy. and i stayed away from black. "Got to kick at the darkness 'til it bleeds daylight" - bruce coburn. so are we ready for spring yet or what? :)

hiver - semaine 4

i think this definitely has been the least colourful week... only 2 more days left and i am done with my 30 for 30 winter challenge!!! ahh i thought i wouldn't be able to last, but i'm almost there. i already have my outfit picked out for tomorrow and i promise it'll be a colourful one. maybe the most colourful of them all if that's even possible! ;)

hiver - jour 28

to keep with the faerie theme (the photo i took yesterday was still on my mind), i wanted to wear my blue wings today. i know i wore this bubble dress on friday and it's not raining today, but it's the first thing i thought of to go with my wings and the first thing i put on when i got dressed this morning. i was trying to hold my wings in place, but the other side kept flopping over and wouldn't stand up...a broken wing i have indeed. maybe to go with the broken blue spirit i feel? these are my oldest pair of wings i own... they will need some tlc to get her back into shape!

we decided to go for a walk around the neighborhood in the afternoon. it got chilly so i put on my bird on wire socks. aren't they cute? i got them on sale at karmaloop last month and finally got to wear them.

and then i put my frye boots on. i think these have become my favourite! these boots are made for walking...

hiver - jour 27

today has been filled with heavy hearts and saddened spirits with more tragic news reported on the telly. black seemed appropriate. so did my feathered dress which i wore as a blouse; hoping it will help lift the heavy clouds that hang overhead and feel carefree and light as a feather again. it did not help. who am i kidding? too much black i think. too much darkness looming. or maybe because i only had it on for about 5 minutes. but, really... it does not matter what i wear. it seems so little and insignificant with what's going on in japan. and in nyc this morning. my heart goes out to you. to all of you.

i took this image this morning. i posted the same photo on my other blog stark raving made. with sadness, there is always hope. mother nature can be cruel and destructive, yet incredibly beautiful. so can humans beings. if we all continue to do the little things that matter and help in any way that we can, then we can fill all the heavy hearts with love, compassion and hope. ♥  

hiver - jour 26

i woke up this morning and heard about the tragic earthquake and tsunami that hit japan! :( my husband was up until 4:30am watching cnn... he almost woke me up to watch, but knew i had to get up really early for a work seminar. but i was so anxious to get there on time, the tragedy hasn't sunk in for me. especially since i hadn't watched any news yet nor seen any footage. it was pouring cats and dogs last night and this morning. i seem to be drawn to my bubble dress every time it rains. maybe because it is blue. i think it shall become my rain dress! why not? since it has a bubble skirt, wind can't blow the hemline up and the no pants just means my legs will dry easily! i wore black wellies and photographed with black boots because that's what it would have been, but the bottom soles are starting to come apart...

and because of potential delays with buses due to flooding and because there was a work seminar at F.I.T. at 8:30am, i bolted out the door as soon as i dressed to ensure i got there on time; needless to say i forgot to bring a pen, notepad and a bottle of water. when i got into the city, i had 45 minutes to get to campus and it only takes about 20 mins to walk there. so, i made a stop at duane reade to get a pen and notepad. then a stop at a brekkie cart for a croissant. (meanwhile there was yogurt and bagels at home which i totally forgot about). and i kept forgetting about the water, but luckily that was provided for. so was paper. and lip balm. which i almost got at duane reade, but didn't. thank goodness. it's like they knew all the things i wanted! lol. well minus the pen! either it was really too early for my brain to function or maybe the tragedy of japan really did me so unfocused and forgetful! :-|

the Irregular Choice mary janes are what i wanted to wear with this outfit, but again i was in such a hurry i didn't grab them. plus, i didn't want to bring extra luggage to the seminar. had i known i'd get to the city so early, i would have went straight to the office first. and when we got out of the seminar? bright and sunny! i felt quite silly with wellies on and my sleeping bag coat!

i made a suggestion to my husband that he try to point the camera up so i would look leaner and taller instead of short and squatty. this is what i got in return! :P definitely felt like a very unorganized day and i definitely had japan and all the people affected in my thoughts. ♥

hiver - jour 25

i woke up really early this morning. yay! but then fell back asleep. boo! so i didn't have time to shower and only had about 20 minutes to get ready... so i got dressed, then undressed, then dressed again. and while waiting for my bus, the fleeting thought of having already worn this jacket this week crossed my mind... and a single tear trickled down my face. no, not because of my outfit today, but because it was so cold! and then because of my outfit. i'm not loving it. as soon as i put my pants on i immediately wanted to grab my racoon top, but it's still sitting in the laundry since sunday! argh. oh well, maybe another time!

i had lunchies with one of my new friends i met on monday. it just so happens we work in the same industry, have a mutual acquaintance and are just a few blocks away! and we both hailed from the bay area and love photography! kindred spirts?! yay! sorry for the bad pics above, it's my attempt using the "self-timer" since the hubby was not home.

also, i came home to find a package waiting for me. my new porcupine / hedgehog ring  from rachel roy showed up today!!!!!!!!!! *squeeeeeeeeee* and you don't need to know when this was purchased... lol. so in the end, this post has more yays then boos! yay! ;)

hiver - jour 24

i really think i need to alter this sweater. a) it's too big on me even though it's an xs. i'm actually holding down the fabric at the back a good 2" or more. b) the front button snaps are uneven. yes, same sweater i mentioned before wanting to return and exchange... only the new sweater that i received had a weird curve at the front opening that looked worse and not as fixable as moving up a buttons snap. buying ready to wear should not require so much work! but, i do love this sweater so she's a keeper... lucky girl!

hiver - jour 23

i feel like i'm all out of combinations. i stared at my clothes and all i could think to do was throw a top over either jeans, skirt or dress. so i chose jeans. and my comfy green boots that i wore almost every day before this challenge and now hardly wear now. but how to make a simple outfit look like something more? an accessory... ha! yes, i totally get it now. i actually bought this lovely green floral scarf the day i had to get emergency socks. and it goes well with my green boots and my green bag and my green hat. ok scratch that, i didn't wear my green hat today. and speaking of purchasing the scarf, i went to a sample sale today... lol. ok, these free people sample sales only happen about 2 times per season so i couldn't *not* go. that would be silly! if you haven't noticed, i heart free people! ok, so i figured it's on my credit card and the bill will not be received and paid for until next month... soooo technically this is purchased in the future! no worries, right? and i will add them to my spring remix which makes that a win-win i say! ;)

hiver - jour 22

i went to a nyc instagram meetup after work and made some new friends! :D i wish i could have made the photo walk, but had to be at work. still, i couldn't believe i was in the presence of some extremely talented and inspiring photogs and iphoneographers! and the fact that i have been following some of them for a few weeks now and finally meeting them was pretty awesome! it's like i don't know them, yet i know them!

it was a cold day so i went with my go-to jeans and my now go-to sweater. i decided to play around with the 2way zipper to create a sort of cascading of layers look in the front. yea, not as exciting as making new friends! :)

hiver - semaine 3

gosh do i look awfully small in day 16 and squatty in day 19. lol. i guess if i tried a little harder, i could have made day 16 match in size with the other days...but really, does anyone care? ;) i think i improved in adding more colour this week! :)

hiver - jour 21

i finally went to the border's closing sale! and it was absolutely and unbelievably.... lame. the sale isn't any better than the coupons they email out and you can find most books at 25% off retail price on amazon or wherever usually. plus, i did not see any bestsellers...i think with any liquidation sales, they send the best to other locations and try to sell the stuff no one wants. ha. and why is it that a store is always an absolute mess when it comes to closing sales? because no one cares. well then, i don't care either...obviously. oh well, i did leave with 2 super cute gift bags.

after the bookstore trip, we went to dinner. tonight's love affair? el chevere. results? good (best so far in our area), but not as good as the real flavours from peru. and had it been nice out, i would have worn my kitten heeled maryjanes instead of boots. but, it was pouring rain out so i had a pic taken just to show you what i would have worn and how it would look.

hiver - jour 20

i was stumped today. i stared at my closet wondering what to wear now. i even had to look at the photos to remind myself what my 30 items were and what combination i haven't worn yet... plus, it's the weekend; comfort is key! after getting dressed, i walked around my neighborhood hoping to find some good shots (photography). plus, it was absolutely gorgeous out and had to take advantage of the weather since tomorrow's forecast calls for rain.

in the attempt to remix, i threw on a combination i hadn't tried yet... and because i was in a rush to catch my bus and didn't want to deal with trying to get boots over cropped pants, i slipped my flats on. but after walking a block, i realized my ankles were getting cold... and remembered i was going out to a friend's art show in the evening when the temp would surely drop more. oops. sooo i stopped by h&m and bought a pair of socks. is that breaking the rule again? but it's not clothing persay, it's an accessory! or better yet, a neccessity! so it should be ok, no? ;) i could have gotten the husband to bring a pair of socks to me, but that just seemed too complicated. also, i'm pretty short as it is...not sure cropped pants work for my stature. i think i best stick with boots when i wear these pants...

hiver - jour 18

"there's a lot going on today!" (too much? i ask) "for me? yes. for you? maybe not." (phew?) and "little house on the prairie" (yikes) were my comments today! not what anyone would want to hear i'm sure. i thought it was cute even though my thigh high socks kept slipping down and my dimpled shoes (which i like to call them heart shaped toe shoes because of the love going on in the back, yet someone called them camel toe shoes!) gave me blisters on the bottom of my feet! that's what happens when you stop wearing heels in 2 years, you lose the calluses built up! so now it's like starting all over again with training wheels (backup shoes). not the best day, but at least i'm successfully remixing! riiight? i know it! ;)

to you? it's new! to me? not so much! what's different than usual? jacket instead of the little black cardigan and booties instead of flats. results? more dressy work and less casual caj. ;)

"you're getting really good use out of that sweater!" i was told this morning... and maybe once or twice before from the same coworker. makes me think i wear it way too much and should change it up a bit, but what was meant was that it was a great purchase (unlike other things i own that rarely gets touched, let alone worn). at least there's a 2-way zipper and can change the look slightly...

ahh well i'm finally wearing my gorgeous leifsdottir dress for this challenge. too bad i wore all black with it subduing all the wonderful colours! or maybe it just makes them pop out more? either way, i know i totally could have gone a little more creative had i had bright orange stockings on instead... or any other colour such as blue, green or purples. maybe my grey boots or kitten heels for a dressier look, but i went caj and received compliments both times i've ever worn it. it's always nice to hear even though i'm exhausted and feeling down. more orange would have surely cheered me up! :) oh wait... maybe that would make it too halloween-ish.

hiver - jour 15

i already knew i was going to wear this skirt by shelli oh since i had plans to meet up with this always lovely canadian designer for dinner tonight. and for some odd reason we always end up at the same restaurant every time she's in town. maybe becuase she's indonesian!? ;) oh hey, but so am i! well, 1/4 of it anyway. tonight's love affair? bali nusa indah. results? authentic ethnic goodness!

and the icing on the cake? (we had banana island, a yummy fried crepe) i received the most gorgeous top as my surprise!!! :D yay! i want to wear it now, but it's not part of my winter remix challenge. :( so, you'll just have to wait until i do the spring remix challenge to see it! ;)



for now, i'm still feeling the yellow so i had to slip on these bright yellow knee high stockings! i don't think i've ever worn these before, but i love them! :) and they added that little bit of pop colour that i'm always lacking. i had planned on wearing the grey boots instead of black, but mother nature decided to shower us today...  so sometimes planning ahead doesn't always save time!

you're probably thinking..."wow, she's accessorizing with a brooch!" but, this cecico number actually came with a lovely spider charm sewn onto the jacket. how cool is that? no worries on my part!

hiver - semaine 2

i'm just about half way there! i could either say it's getting easier as time goes by or that it might be getting harder if i start running out of combinations. this week's colour palette looks pretty much the same as last week's, maybe even less colourful? oh boy. i think there's just 1 dress left that i haven't touched yet and at least it is in a colourful print. rain is predicted for tomorrow, so chances are i won't be wearing it! but, i should at least change out my hat! i do own other hats...

since i was cleaning today, i obviously did not wear anything complicated! i tried to make it somewhat interesting though by wearing the tank top over the long sleeve tee, sort of like a vest!

someone asked if i was going to watch the oscars... i said no. i haven't seen any movies at all the past year so i wouldn't know what i was looking at. but, guess what? i'm sitting here folding laundry and typing up this entry and .:wait for it:. watching the oscars! ;P it didn't start out that way though! i was actually upstairs cleaning my closet (i have a very exciting life as you can see) when the hubby called me down to watch (he has to for work, i was not the slightest bit interested until he mentions "fashion" to me)..."shouldn't you be paying attention what people are wearing?" ha! apparently i missed most of it and only caught gwyneth paltrow wearing a golden calvin klein dress in which the hubby responds with "she looks like the academy award. you know, the actual award". lol. hmm why am i writing a style blog? oh right, the 30 for 30 challenge! :P

où étais-je?

while cleaning and going through older mags and catalogs, i came across the following items i wish i owned! and after some searching, i discovered they are already sold out as these were from back in august and october's anthropologie catalogs! .:pout:. seriously, where was i? this just made me feel totally behind in fashion. i want it to be autumn again... and i would like more yellow in my wardrobe! and i should pay better attention!

but, i'll be sure the keep an eye out on the following designers!!! :)

funny how several other bloggers have blogged about this dress. and after seeing the dress on some, it looks and fits awfully dreadful. but, maybe it's just bad photography? i don't know, but i would have rocked it if i had the chance to! or perhaps it would have looked just as bad on me; i guess i'll never know.

i love the boldness of these heels, but would not pair these shoes with the above dress...obviously. colours are not the same. i'm just really into yellow tones at the moment. and it's almost 3:30 pm now...i guess i should get dressed soon! because i need to clean some more today. who dresses to clean, anyway? wish i could just stay in my pjs...

and speaking of "yellow", i was listening to coldplay while editing one of my photos! :)

i was in pjs *most* of today, but finally got dressed at around 10:30pm... to clean! hahaa. that wasn't a typo by the way... i really did get dressed at 10:30pm, not am. and what better cleaning clothes to wear than what i threw on? my day starts pretty late. it's true.

yellow stockings. yellow ring. yellow feather on my head! although, it's a bit hard to tell. and i've never worn this belt before by the way. i had to take the tags off for the photo shoot... and i'm still wearing it as i type this. it helps me eat less and feel thinner i think! ;)

i totally envisioned holding a tea cup when i did this pose! except i didn't have one then... i am having tea now though and it's 3:30 am! shhh... i know it's late. i told you my day starts late. but don't worry, i'm off to bed soon!!! err as soon as i finish the dishes! ;)
